Our installation for London Design Festival is now up! We are launching a new thermos flask called, 'Cocoon' by designer Torsten Neeland. We have designed the Air Box packaging that, not only protects but also, hopefully, compliments the product.

Mr. Spatula

The moment we saw this elegant and highly practical spatula, we had to have it on our shop. It is designed and manufactured by Clea Jentsch, who is doing a BA in Product and Furniture Design at Kingston University. Its width and length, in relation to the ingeniously drilled holes makes a perfect for draining pots, whilst holding the pot's food contents back. This is helped by the curved bottom edge which matches the arc of the pot.

Beautifully thought through. We hope Clea brings us more of her designs in the future...

These enamel storage jars are coming to Mar Mar Co. in the next couple weeks. The jars, expertly made in Austria, have ash wood lids and are stackable. The manufacturing uses pure natural ‘mineral resources’ such as steel, quartz, clay, feldspar, borax, soda ash and potash - making enamel 100% recyclable. A natural solution for natural foods! Available in white, light grey and petrol blue.

ECOWASBAL

We are now stocking the recyclable Ecowasbal. Made of the environmentally friendly plastic polypropylene, it is placed among the laundry in the washing machine. In combination with a little detergent, the ball washes just as clean as detergent on its own.

Together with the detergent, the ball, which is filled with small ceramic pellets, helps remove dirt from the fibres. It is at least as effective as ordinary detergent, as well as being anti-allergenic. Textiles retain their softness, elasticity and colour. Ecowasbal lasts no fewer than 1,000 washes, which is around four years on average, and annually saves its users a significant amount.

JENS RISOM: Danish Born – American Made/
MORTEN LØBNER ESPERSEN: New Work

In collaboration with Rocket Gallery, we are showing some pieces from the new re-issue of Risom’s classic designs from the 1950s and 1960s. These pieces have been made by Benchmark – with the close involvement of the ninety-four year old Risom himself.

Also new work by Danish, contemporary ceramist, Morten Løbner Espersen. His technique of re-firing and re-glazing his work (sometimes up to five times), gives his ceramics a unique beauty and a richness of colour rarely seen.

The re-issue of Tivoli Chair and Liggestolen Lounger

'A good chair is the basis of many a long and magnificent evening'... The incredibly comfortable Tivoli chair certainly fits the bill. Introduced in the 1950's to the Restaurant Groften at Tivoli (the famous pleasure garden in the heart of Copenhagen), this chair has the advantage of not taking up much space – all the better for getting more people around a table.

In contrast, the Liggestolen Lounger, first made in the 1930's, was made for a different kind of comfort. Legend has it that it was produced for hospital patients who were convalescing. The lightness of the lounger, when folded, made it easy to take it in one hand whilst helping a patient with the other.

Both have now been re-isssued by a Danish company. The protoypes were made on the Danish island of Fyn by one of the last remaining basket-makers. They were then taken to Indonesia, 'the country of rattan', for handmade production.
